This Privacy Policy explains how Parel LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use ParelVR — our client software, websites (parelvr.parelllc.com and its subdomains), APIs, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). 1. Overview
ParelVR is a 16+ social VR platform. Because access requires a Steam purchase, we rely on Steam's own age-gating rather than collecting government ID ourselves. Your account within ParelVR is managed through PlayFab, a game backend service, and this policy covers the information that flows through both PlayFab and our own servers as part of running the Service.

3. How We Use Information
- To create and secure your account, and to authenticate you across our websites and the client.
- To operate core platform features — matching you into worlds, showing your favorites and recents, and displaying your published content to other players.
- To detect and prevent cheating, abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To respond to support tickets, bug reports, player reports, and ban appeals.
- To maintain and improve the Service, including diagnosing crashes and performance issues.
- To communicate important updates about the Service, when necessary.
We don't sell your personal information.
4. Third-Party Services
Running ParelVR means working with a small number of trusted service providers, each of whom processes data on our behalf:
- PlayFab (Microsoft Azure) — account identity, authentication, and backend game services.
- Steam (Valve) — game purchase and access gating.
- Xsolla — payment processing for in-experience purchases. Xsolla is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant.
- Discord — our community server, which has its own privacy practices governed by Discord's policies.
Each of these providers has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on its platform. We only share what's necessary for each service to function.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and content data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. If you request account deletion (see Section 7), we'll remove or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we need to retain limited records for security, fraud-prevention, or legal reasons.
7. Your Rights & Choices
- Update your display name at any time from your Dashboard, up to 3 times every 3 months.
- Change your password from Account Settings.
- Control content visibility — mark worlds and avatars private, limited, or public at any time.
- Request account deletion by submitting a Support ticket; our team will process the request and remove your account and associated personal data.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information under local law. Contact us using the details in Section 11 to make a request.
8. Children's Privacy
ParelVR is a 16+ experience and is not directed at children under 16. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we learn that we've collected information from someone under this age, we'll take steps to delete it.
9. Data Security
We rely on PlayFab's infrastructure for credential storage and account security, and Xsolla's PCI DSS Level 1 compliant systems for payment processing. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as ParelVR evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where practical, let the community know through our Discord.
